Having designed a home makeover for the owner’s residence in Myrtle Beach, Mozingo + Wallace was hired to design another home in Asheville, NC. The site is on a high mountainside overlooking Asheville with tremendous views to the Pisgah Range across the French Broad valley. To take advantage of the views from anywhere on the main level, the floor steps down the from the kitchen in the rear across the living room. The outside terrace, built on columns to stay above the surrounding trees, steps down as well, with the lowest level containing a zero-edge pool from which the family can still enjoy the scenery while having a swim. The home is finished with modern materials with colors and textures mimicking the surrounding mountain forest, including stone veneers, wood laminate panels, wood accents and zinc rain screen panels that match the mountain’s exposed granite color.
