Mr. Martin is a hotel owner in Myrtle Beach, for whom Mozingo + Wallace had already done two hotel renovation jobs. He wanted the same treatment for his ocean front home. The home had undergone a renovation sometime earlier, to change the original beach cottage into a more Mediterranean style. This renovation completed this change-over. A balcony was added to the bedrooms above the garage on the street side of the home, enhanced with cast stone trims, columns and balustrades. The main entry to the home received similar treatment. The shingle roof was replaced with clay tile, and the eave details were changed to match those of an Italian sea side villa. A new sunny colored stucco finish completed the transformation. Mr. Martin also added a fence and driveway gate at Ocean Boulevard. The gate was designed by Mozingo + Wallace using stock components, except for the silhouetted palmetto tree.
