An investment group asked Mozingo + Wallace to explore the possibility of placing a franchise hotel on its property in North Myrtle Beach. The biggest challenge was providing ample parking for the number of hotel units. A combination of off-site parking and one raised parking deck level conquered that problem. The grade level of the hotel contains pools and other amenities as the site is in a flood zone and no living spaces are allowed. The second level is designed after franchise requirements for the lobby, a kitchen and dining area for light meals, offices spaces, exercise room and meeting spaces. The upper floors are all rental units, again laid out to franchise standards. The exterior of the hotel is a combination of white stucco, wood-look panels and colorful accents at the windows, in shapes to attract the eye of passers-by. The grade level parking is hidden by the use of 'green screens' to help maintain the hotel's sleek and inviting appearance. The project options were for a Hyatt franchise as well as a Spring Hill Suites franchise.
