Mr. Davis, for whom Mozingo + Wallace had designed two contemporary residences, approached the firm about providing the designs for a much needed facelift on his one story office. At one time the area was central Myrtle Beach, but expansive growth had redefined the locale of city center. The owner wanted to explore a modern theme, and create a striking image for his business. Mozingo + Wallace proposed to remove the existing brick veneer, and replace it with polycarbonate panels on metal studs. Polycarbonate is a durable, impact resistant material that can be treated to be scratch resistant. It can undergo large plastic deformations without cracking or breaking. It is known for its transparency, as well as its capacity to be color treated or filmed with imagery, as displayed in the elevations. Existing door and window openings would remain as is, with only the entrances being reworked to accept the curtain wall.
