Coral Beach’s owners wanted to enhance the street image of their existing hotel project. It was difficult for arriving guests to determine where check-in parking was, and the existing garage obscured the main building as it extended from the main oceanfront building nearly to the street. To help identify the check-in area, panel frames made from tube steel were placed over the driveway, and colored acrylic panels placed into the frames. This made a single spot of visual interest, as well as placing existing glazed walls in more shade to help out with HVAC demand. Special lighting makes these panels glow at night, so that their effect is never lost. The garage façade had frames added as well. These were oversized square frames made of steel studs and finished with stucco panels. Painting these of contrasting colors to the garage behind brighten the dull aspect of the parking garage. In addition, the entire building was repainted using blues and greens to simulate the ocean beyond. This image was further enhanced by adding a ‘wave’ pattern of these colors to the street side of the hotel.
